MANGALIK MEANING

MEANING OF MANGALIK

The meaning of Mangalik in Vedic Astrology is one who has planet Mangal or Mars placed in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house of their natal birth chart or horoscope. Mars presence in the second house is also considered by many astrologers as ardha or half-Mangalik, i.e. giving partial results of Mangalik. However, our research does not support Mars in 2nd house as Mangalik in any way.

MANGALIK DOSH

Mangalik Dosh, also known as Kuja Dosh is a highly feared word for believers of Vedic Astrology. More than anything else, this condition is dreaded the most for marriage as it is highly destructive for a happy and fulfilling married life.

If a Mangalik is married to a non-Mangalik, then marital discord, separation, divorce or even death of life partner are very possible for such couples.

A DISCLAIMER

However, we would like add a disclaimer as well as assurance to believers of Vedic astrology that not all Mangalik and non-Mangalik marriages end up in a breakdown. It is only that the probability of a discord and divorce in such wedlock are high but not certain, since other combinations in the horoscope can very well negate the negative placement of Mars. In fact, there are hundreds of such couples living happily.

MANGALIK HOUSES

Now the question that arises is why Mars’ presence in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th and 12th houses creates such havoc? The simple logic is - these houses represent self, home, partnership, longevity. And since Mangal is a fiery, aggressive and violent planet, its presence in any of these houses can lead to damage and destruction of significations they represent.

Thus, this placement of Mars creates a mental incompatibility and discontent inside the home, which snowballs into bigger conflicts leading to disharmony among partners. And in spite of possessing money or social status, a disturbance inside one’s home turns out to be the primary reason for marital discord.

SECOND MARRIAGE OF MANGALIK

An interesting point to note is while the negative effects of Kuja Dosh in marriage has its effects in one’s first wedlock, but the second married life of the same person passes quite peacefully and securely.

In other words, even if any of the partners, i.e. bride or groom in a second marriage is a Mangalik, the alliance will not end up in divorce or untimely death of any partner.

A common explanation for a smooth second nuptial for Mangaliks is after they learn from the mistakes of living with their first life partner, the experiences ensure the same errors are avoided. At the same time, they turn more flexible and adjusting in nature, which leads to a conflict-free married life.

However, even if the Mangalik clause does not have its damaging effect for second marriage cases, other conditions can still lead to incompatibility and divorce. Hence, horoscopes are to be matched for the second marriage of Mangaliks as well.

MANGALIK DOSH REMEDIES

The best remedy is a Mangalik should be married to another Mangalik only. This nullifies the dosh. However, this is possible only in cases of arranged marriage but the condition can’t be applied on love marriages, as companions enter into a romantic relationship without analyzing their horoscopes.

A very effective practice for removing Mangalik dosh, though not widely known, is yoga, meditation, spiritualism and fasting. All these exercises bring about hormonal changes in our inner body that lead to living a restrained, yet happy life. And self-control is the key to a conflict-free sustenance. Amidst the newly found transformation, our minds evolve to higher levels of consciousness, which gives a farsighted vision, clarity in thinking and prudent decision making.

As controlling the fiery and violent nature of planet Mars is the main concern here, this mystical journey help in calming down of the mind and body, thereby negating the malefic influence of Mars of Mangaliks.

Another standard Mangal dosh elimination way for the native is a mock marriage with a banyan or peepal tree before marrying their human partner. This spiritual union with banyan or peepal, considered auspicious trees in Hindu religion is said to remove the separative effect of Mars. This ritual is intended to transfer the negative effects of the dosha to the tree. A real-life marriage after this, which becomes the second marriage protects the wedding of a Mangalik to a non-Mangalik from any possible marital life setbacks.

Although this practice is ridiculed by many, but there is a science behind it. This practice changes the energy cycles in the life of a person who is spiritual, who sees this experience as having a spouse in the tree. Thereafter, as the first marriage is declared null and void, one’s destined path also changes. This protects one from a marriage disaster in their second attempt, when the real-life marriage takes place.
