27 NAKSHATRAS - A DETAILED ANALYSIS
IMPORTANCE OF NAKSHATRA
NAKSHATRA occupies the most important element of Systems approach in Vedic Astrology because it derives the dasha system, or planetary periods allotted to an individual’s life.
For instance, if one has Bharani nakshatra in the natal chart of planet Moon, then the janma nakshatra of the person is Bharani. Since the planet lord of Bharani nakshatra is Venus, the individual’s life’s first Mahadasha will start with Shukra or Venus.
Secondly, as all planets in the natal chart are placed in a specific nakshatra, the strength of every planet in a horoscope is also dependent on the respective constellation. If the planet and star lord happen to be a friend then strength of that planet gets enhanced, but if they are of opposite temperament, then the planet gets weakened. Thus, the relationship of planet and nakshatra lord are of high importance for predictions of a horoscope.
