RUDRAKSHA TREE IN ASTROLOGY

WHAT IS RUDRAKSHA TREE?

RUDRAKSHA TREE is found in the Himalayan region of India, Nepal and Indonesia. Its seeds, called ‘rudraksha beads’, have great spiritual importance for Hindus and Buddhists. In Vedic Astrology too, rudraksha is considered favourable, while in general it is beneficial for health.

Elaeocarpus ganitrus is the botanical name of this large broad-leaf green tree, which grows fast within three years. Its fruit is converted into beads that is used for prayers by Hindus and Buddhists. This auspicious item is also known as blue berry seeds as its outer husk is blue when entirely ripe.

Rudra means Shiva, and Aksha represents Shiva’s tears. For centuries, people wear rudraksha, believing it to be a blessing of Lord Shiva, and therefore, is considered highly sacred.

Rudraksha are mostly reddish brown in colour, which looks flattish but round shaped. It sinks as soon as immersed in water, although the colour does not fade away. In fact, if these beads float on water or its colour changes, then it is a fake material.

RUDRAKSHA IN JYOTISH

NO DOUBT, Rudraksha has greater spiritual significance for Hindus than its astrological importance. But astrologers have traditionally believed that these beads do have properties which can strengthen planets. However, its popularity as an alternative to gemstones hasn’t grown because it is not widely available. The other challenges include identifying real vs fake rudraksha, as also the high-cost factor, which makes it unaffordable to most people.

We have a word of caution for general public – one should not wear Rudraksha or Rudraksha mala on their own because if the type does not suit them, then it can cause much damage. That apart, few astrologers have good knowledge on the remedial effects of beads, and hence they should use rudraksha only after consulting an expert on the subject.

ASTROLOGICAL BENEFITS OF RUDRAKSHA

QUITE SIMILAR to gemstones, rudraksha strengthens planets, thereby giving more energy and power to the wearer, while at the same time it nullifies many of the planetary ill effects or dosha.

But a distinct quality of beads is it uniformly cools down the body and soothes the mind, which reduces stress, hyper tension and enhances concentration and memory. While this brings higher consciousness, enabling one to meditate with deeper focus, beads have the power to cure several diseases as well. In fact, people with higher intellect and self-awareness lead a healthier and disease-free life because they can feel themselves from inside more deeply.

Scientific studies on Rudraksha have revealed that these seeds contain powerful electromagnetic vibrations, frequencies, atoms that effect our bodies. It radiates energies that have positive effect on mind, body and soul, and play a key role in balancing planetary energies and chakras, thereby protecting from many illnesses and promoting material and spiritual growth.
