WHAT IS HORA D-2 CHART?

HORA, also called D-2, which specifically analyzes the financial prosperity and wealth accumulation of an individual, is one of the 16 divisional charts used in Vedic astrology for predictions. The D-2 chart helps in understanding a native's financial growth, savings and wealth management skills, as also how easy or difficult it is for him to earn money.

In the divisional chart system, the most important astrological tool for overall analyses is the lagna chart or D-1, while D-2 or Hora chart is a sub-divisional chart analyzed in relation to the D-1 chart, which helps in achieving higher predictive accuracies on wealth. However, it needs to be kept in mind that notwithstanding the importance of sub-divisional charts, under no circumstances can the D-1 or main birth chart be ignored, because it is the base for any predictions.

MEANING OF HORA

Etymologically, ‘Hora’ is derived from the Sanskrit term ‘Ahoratra’, which means day and night, representing the division of a sign into two parts, which is also why it is known as D-2. It is the simplest of all other divisional charts where every house is divided into two equal halves of 15 degrees each, unlike Navamsha of 9 divisions or Dashamsha of 10 divisions.

HORA CHART ASCENDANT

A D-2 chart looks like a normal horoscope, but its ascendant would be either Cancer or Leo, and all planets are placed within Cancer or Leo Hora signs. The other 10 houses in the Hora chart remain empty.

If a chart is Cancer ascendant, then Leo will be situated in 2nd house, and if Leo ascendant then Cancer sign will be in 12th house. Diagrams below explain -

HOW TO CREATE HORA CHART?

A D-2 chart is created from the degree of rising sign and that of planets in D-1 or lagna chart.

Odd Sign - If the lagna degree of D-1 chart is within 0-15° in odd signs – Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius, then the native will have Leo Hora lagna.
Odd Sign - If the lagna degree of D-1 chart is a second more than 15° in odd signs – Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius, then the native will have Cancer Hora lagna.
Even Sign - If the lagna degree of D-1 chart is within 0-15° in even signs – Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pieces, then the native will have Cancer Hora lagna.
Even Sign - If the lagna degree of D-1 chart is a second more than 15° in even signs – Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pieces, then the native will have Leo Hora lagna.

PLANET PLACEMENTS IN HORA CHART

Once the lagna is identified for Hora chart – which will be either Cancer or Leo, all planets of D-1 chart will find their respective Hora signs using the same formula used above for determining lagna.

Planets within 0-15° in odd signs in D-1 will be posited in Leo Hora and planets which are more than 15° in odd signs will be in Cancer Hora. Similarly, planets within 0-15° in even signs of D-1 will be placed in Cancer Hora and those above 15° will be placed in Leo Hora.

A point to note here is Rahu and Ketu would always be found together in the Hora chart since both have the same degrees and this pair will be found either in odd and even signs of D-1 chart.

While Sun or Leo Hora represents power, authority and masculine energy in wealth matters, Moon or Cancer Hora symbolizes nourishment, and has an emotional connection with savings and wealth.

PREFERRED HORA LAGNA

In Hora chart, Leo ascendant is preferred over Cancer rising sign. As Sun is about practicality, name and fame – Leo rising Hora natives choose the right profession based on prevailing opportunities and their skills to earn good money. The realism of Sun overrides the emotions of moon, which removes possibilities of making wrong choices.

That apart, individuals with Leo rising Hora, are very talented and become successful in whatever they do. These natives command power and status at work because of Sun’s influence.

But for individuals with Cancer rising Hora, it is one’s soul that would determine the career path as these natives choose their fields of work where their emotions get satisfied.
